Looking At People

Hi, and thank you for reading my blog.

Please remember that I am not a therapist, but a person who has OCD, cares about others, and wants to help any way I can. I am not giving advice. I am just telling my own experiences, and praying my experiences help someone. If you need help please go get the help you need.

This week I’m going to talk about the way I look at people.  First, I don’t look at them this way to be mean or judgemental, even though I am judging them on how clean they are. It doesn’t matter if you are a man or a woman for the reason we all do gross or  disgusting stuff ever so often.  Some administration in school districts and probably offices don’t wash their hands after using the restroom.  For one, I have seen it, and another I was told it was for the reason that they shake hands a lot so they don’t want their hands to be wet or damp if they have to shake someone’s hand after coming out of the restroom.  Let me say that this is true with male  administrators.  I don’t know of too many women who don’t wash their hands if any.  I don’t advise anyone to start watching people the way I do with my OCD.  People do sneeze or cough into their hands and not wash or sanitize them, which to me is gross, but I see it a lot with both male and females. How many things do they touch after they sneeze or cough into their hands? When my OCD was Extreme, I could have told you where the person had touched after sneezing, coughing or anything else they did in their hands.   How many other people touch the same surface?  Are you starting to wonder how sickness is spread?  Maybe you don’t care how sickness is spread, this is probably just my OCD talking to me. Some people just don’t care or think.  I think too much and then there are times I don’t think at all.  Sometimes I don’t think before I speak. I have gotten better with this.  I’ve noticed people who rub their nose a lot.  Rubbing your nose when it itches is one thing, but doing it over and over again or sticking the tip of your finger to itch just inside bothers me, especially when you don’t wash or sanitize your hands.  People touching their feet or bottom of their shoes is gross to me too.  The stuff people walk on that they don’t realize, then to touch it with your hand (s) without washing or sanitizing. I could go on and on, however let me just say I pay way too much attention to the way people do things.  I have gotten a lot better with therapy.  You might be saying to yourself this guy must wash his hands constantly.  At the peak of my OCD I was washing my hands around one hundred times a day.  I’m not even close to that now.  Before I go, I think it was two weeks ago that I talked about emotions and stress.  A person with OCD just watching people being gross can cause stress, all kinds of emotions along with ruminating.  I’m just wanting to tell you there is a lot that goes on in an OCD mind. Please be kind to yourself and others who have any kind of OCD or mental health issues.
